Monday 2nd May saw Talygarn Equestrian Centre host a novelty fun show. The show began at 10am with novelty showing classes such as ‘best turned out’, ‘prettiest pony’, ‘best tail’ etc. Children of all ages, some of which had never been to a show before, came together to compete. The classes were hotly contested and due to the remarkable effort put in by all the competitors (and parents) our Judge Lynn Groves definitely had her work cut out for her! The top two competitors from each class qualified for the championship and then battled it out for the title of Supreme Champion. Kaia Wells came out on top with her exceptionally smart pony Peppa having qualified as the winner of the Fancy Dress with her horror themed costume. Reserve Champion went to Olivia Godden, who had previously topped the ‘most unusual plaits’ class with Talygarn EC’s Bart, who not only had his mane and tail plaited but was also sporting french plaited feathers!
The afternoon then took a turn and saw dare devil youngsters coming forward to show off their jumping skills. With a ‘mini jumpers cross pole class’ to start a lot of children started their show jumping careers and it was Elana Murray and Bluebell who got a taste of success. The day culminated with an Accumulator which with a joker fence set at 3ft allowed a few young riders to tackle their biggest jump in a competition to date. The class was won by Megan Escott and her pony Twilight Girl.
Overall the day was a success with ponies behaving impeccably and so many children enjoying a fun filled Bank Holiday Monday.
