After the longest wettest winter I’ve ever seen the day was actually dry for the team show jumping – with only 20 teams competing it was a quieter one than usual although it was a blessing that we didn’t have to use the field to park as that is still trying to digest the rainfall. Talygarn teams did extremely well winning all but the last class which went to Three counties bloodhounds. I was impressed to see that Danielle John from the three counties had the fastest clear round of all in class 2 and class 3 – to think it was only a couple of years ago that she used to be eliminated in every class for going the wrong way. The only injuries of the day were a filler demolished by Megan and a wing by Bradley – the wing made a speedy recovery but it might be curtains for the filler. Cakes seem to be the theme for team jumping with the Talygarn parents, not good for the diet but I did manage 7000 of my 10000 steps per day target during the competition. The new surface is settling well and rode very nicely and with the boards having had a lick of white paint the arena was looking very smart – I managed to get some nice photos with the brighter surroundings which can be found on the Talygarn website Gallery. Next and final team jumping of the winter series will be Wednesday June1st.
