After a fab and busy Mini Hunter Trials today there was an unfortunate accident at the end of the day when a competitor loaded their horse onto a 31/2 ton horsebox jumped the barrier between the horse section and the tack/living section. Unable to get out he pannicked and caused considerable damage to the area. A vet was called to sedate the horse and the firebrigade (5 fire engines) arrived to cut him out. I am pleased to say he suffered mainly grazes and surface wounds, his owner was in shock and considerably traumatised. The Fire brigade told me they attended exactly the same incident last week and my daughter said the same thing happened at a show she was at a couple of weeks ago. There appears to be is a design fault in these boxes and half height partitions do not seem adequate for the safe travelling of horses.
