Last year I organised and we have ran 32 show jumping competitions, 4 team show jumping comps 9 Dressage comps 7 Hunter trials or Arena Hunter trials, 1 christmas gymkhana, 1 open day, approx 12 pony days, 4 Camps, 4 Vaulting Displays, 3 Vaulting Competitions, 1 Dog Show, 2 Area Pony club Comps, Area Quiz which Talygarn Pony Club Centre team won and qualified for the finals (we have qualified every year) and 2nd in the national PC Quiz at Warwick. Numerous birthday parties, 17 students have been trained and achieved BHS or Equine related Qualifications. Plus Student training, University team training, Pony Club training, Riding lessons and Vaulting lessons being taught every week and we had a foal – unplanned. I have also managed 3 trips abroad – a long weekend to Iceland, 10 days in Prague and 31/2 weeks back packing across 6000 miles in India. I think its fair to say we are not a big equestrian centre. 30ish horses, 1 full time, 3 part staff and 8 students is not really a lot but we do try to offer as many opportunities as possible. Much the same is planned for this next coming year and I have been finalising most of my competition dates and camp dates for the 2014 today, which I am in the process of transferring to our website. If there is anything Equine related you’d like to try I’ll give it a go if possible. The last few months I have been teaching Indoor Polocrosse with ponies which has been going very well. In previous years we have always entered the Pony Club Centre Equitation competition at the Pony Club Championships, which we have won twice and always been placed at. We were unable to take part last year as pony club chose to hold the competition on a friday. Unfortunately they have decided to hold it again this year on friday so we won’t be attending. Fingers crossed for next year as it always was on a tuesday which was ideal. I will be organising riding and road safety training and the exam in spring so anyone 16 or over who would like to enrol – let me know. Have a look back at 2013 in our Gallery and try something new in 2014.
