Having had a considerable amount pressure this last month we were beginning to regret having agreed to hold this Pony Club Horse and Pony Care Competition. There just wasn’t enough hours in the day and Amelia was completely snowed under organising the amount of paperwork and activities required alongside training our own teams and running a busy yard. On the day there were 18 junior teams and 9 senior teams from Pony Clubs all over Area 10. The activities included assembling bridles, plaiting, applying tack for travelling, identifying ailments and points of the horse, identifying objects and a multiple choice question paper. The briefing commenced at 9.40am with the first Junior teams starting their tasks at 10am the Senior teams started at 12 noon and the prize giving was set at 5pm. The day ran extremely smoothly with prize giving being just a little earlier. Each club provided a judge and they worked tirelessly throughout a long day. Our Talygarn Pony Club committee were all very willing and eager to help. Karen Janine and Wendy provided a lovely buffet lunch for the judges and scorers and tea throughout the day. Jolene took on the role of taskmaster and although a little anxious at first did a sterling job of making sure every team were at their allocated station at the correct time. Lisa and Kim took on the scoring and again did an amazing job the last score went up as the last team finished and we were able to commence the prize giving straight away. Sally and Helen took on the judging of the junior identifying objects. I can’t thank everyone enough for all their help and patience throughout the day we couldn’t have done it without your support and also thank you to those clubs which have sent messages thanking us for a well run day (we did have one complaining club though in fact I will go as far as to say rude). All of the teams were exceptionally well turned out, very hard working, polite and a credit to their clubs ours included. The results – The best turned out was a difficult choice but we settled on juniors Iron and Twyi C team and Seniors Llangibby.
We decided to split the results for the branches and the Centres giving rosettes to both but the overall qualifying teams were the teams with the highest score in each section. Senior Qualifiers were Triley Greens and Junior Qualifiers were Iron and Twyi A Photographs and results can be found in an album on our Talygarn Equestrian Centre Facebook page
