Excitement builds up over the weeks before the open day therefore it is a nail biting time wondering whether the weather is going to be kind to us. In over 20years we have only cancelled once because of the rain and once we went ahead indoors. What started out as a lovely warm day on Sunday turned into thunder and lightning by noon after a quick on foot run thru of the musical ride indoors the sun started to shine before 1am. Unfortunately the downpour did put quite few off but a fair few turned out and the weather turned out to be one of the best we’ve had. We started with a jumping display which didn’t go entirely to plan. Seren decided she didn’t like spectators and didn’t want to go near fence 1. Rosie also somewhat erratic ran out at fence 5, Tarquin knocked fence 3 down. Zoe fell off Foley (Zoe falls off something every year – its now a tradition). Comet who is the least experienced and the most unlikely to win – did win, thats horses for you – most unpredictable. The musical ride was fab, the parents worked so hard on the costumes and my only contribution was a black skirt (when it comes to sewing – skirts are my forte). The Theme was Mary Poppins and the music worked so well – see You Tube video Talygarn Musical Ride . The Vaulting is also a popular display. This year we performed Frozen, our Welsh theme and Titanic in walk and a canter routine on Splash, Sister Act on Woody which was quite amusing and 23yr old Michigan did his last public display with Carys Morgan as he will be retiring this year. Every year I try to think of a display which will include a wider range of riders and as barrel racing was earmarked for 2015 I decided to include an Indian Parade along side and also incorporate a bit of riding whilst standing up on horses. I organised 19 riders and 17 horses, (14 indians and 5 cowboys) I had a plan to add a few jumps with the barrel racing and a bit of a parade. Amelia took over at this point and put a fab display together and taught it to the kids in one lesson YouTube – Indian Parade The Gymkhana is always the last event and there was an exciting finale between Sophie on Timmy and Chloe on Hannah with Chloe Winning and The A Team winning overall. Its taken me till now to sort out the videos and photos which are now on the website a thttp://www.talygarnec.co.uk/talygarn-gallery/ Many thanks for the photo taking and videoing to Jayne Jennifer Tracey Paul and many thanks to everyone who helped out on or before the day.
