Only a few weeks ago we were sure that the Mini Hunter Trials advertised for the 27th May would be cancelled. Its been impossible to get any work done in the fields, Cross country fences need repairing and parking in the top field would’ve been impossible. We hadn’t even turned the horses out. Then in this last two weeks everything has changed. The ground has dried up. We have been able to spray and top the fields. Cross country fences have been repaired and the horses were turned out on Monday. Tonight the level 4 and 5 had their lessons in the field and the horses were surprisingly well behaved. One person fell off but was fine and jumped back on. Several horses were a bit strong but all jumped well. Sunday will definitely be going ahead. I try to hold all events outside from the start of May and so far there have been 3 show jumping events and this coming hunter Trials on sunday and they have all been outside. Hope this weather keeps up and we get a dry day for our open day on July 8th. By which time we will all be moaning that the ground’s too hard and all the grass has gone.
