Show Jumping Lucky Jasper & Hannah
Today we had decided to take Lucky and Jasper to a show with young riders Molly and Zoe M as we are looking for a pony to take to the Pony Club Centre Champs in Derby. Kate also came with us and brought Hannah. The girls were excited and arrived on the yard to get their pony’s ready. The plan was to leave at 9 and go to Millbrook show at Pencoed. Carys and Sarah came to help and they all left with Amelia and Steve I planned to go down in the car after things were organised for the lessons. Half an hour later I got a call to say that they had arrived at Pencoed and the show was cancelled. The girls were obviously disappointed but I quickly checked the web and and then they were off to Sunnybank. Kate’s mother Sue picked me up and then Sheena who had decided to take her girls to watch rang me to say she was in Llanbradach and could I give her directions, well I didn’t have a clue I know exactly where it is and how to drive there but give directions – no idea, follow signs for caerphilly then newport then rudry go over lots of roundabouts an its on the left anyway she rang Steve and found it. Carys and Sarah had a quick warm up in the practice ring just to see how they were whilst Amelia walked the course with Zoe Molly and Kate, then Zoe got on Lucky and Molly on Jasper, Hannah was playing up a bit so Carys rode her for a while. All these ponies jump very well at home but haven’t been anywhere for a long time and not at all in Jaspers case. Zoe took Lucky in the 1′9 on entering the indoor school Lucky decided this was the most terrifying thing ever and refused to go near anything, she did get him round in the end but with lots of stops. Kate had quite a few problems with Hannah and was eliminated at the 2nd fence and whereas they let Zoe carry on for some reason Kate wasn’t allowed to. Jasper was also terrified and backed off every fence although did jump them all without stopping but did get 4 faults when he shot off and turned a circle at the far end. Carys took Hannah and Sarah took Lucky back in the same class hor concour and being older and stronger they both got them round. The girls then entered the 2ft which was a two phase competition, they walked the course and then swapped ponies Zoe took Jasper in and Molly rode Lucky both girls got round fine but both had 4 faults for a knocked down fence. Molly came 4th on Lucky and Zoe 5th on Jasper. Kate was still a little nervous on Hannah and Hannah played up a bit so Kate didn’t get round. Just needs a bit more practice. All three looked very smart in their riding jackets and white shirts. Photos are on the Gallery
