Easter Holidays at Talygarn

Glad to be back to normal after the two hectic weeks I have had over Easter.  Easter holidays at Talygarn always seems to be a busy time with the activities on here and several Pony Club events to fit in as well. The Easter holidays started with Amelia jumping in Warwick on the saturday then back to Warwick the next day for the National quiz which Talygarn won. Monday was taken up most of the day with preparations for the Team jumping on Wednesday as I was away in Brecon all day on Tuesday with the Pony Club Horse Care Teams and Talygarn Senior team did very well to come 2nd. The Team jumping was very busy with 32 teams. Managed to fit in a bit of gardening thursday and now have three fruit trees in the garden along with the strawberries and fruit bushes. Friday we had our client show jumping which was quite busy followed by Aly’s 40th birthday in Llanharan rugby club.  Aly was one of our first Yale students back in 2000. Saturday was the usual lessons all day  but Sunday and Monday was great fun riding all the ponies out bareback although I did nearly fall off Jasper when he stuck his head down to the grass and I only had a head collar on him.  Tuesday was pony day which and Wednesday and Thursday Pony Club Centre days. The weather was good and the fields dry so we decided to do some cross country. There were 13 riding and Amelia and I had half each and between us we managed to have 5 on the floor. No one was hurt and the horses and ponies were very well behaved. Kate had the fastest fall when Hannah swerved at a fence and shot off this was in the arena before going to the field. Bethan Gareth and Libby wobbled off the sides and Carys’s fall made a good photo when Carys went over Blues head. In the afternoon the pony Club centre members learnt the origins of the letters around the arena what letters there are and the dimensions of the arena. On thursday the riding Activity was polocrosse Zoe was the only one who fell off but this is because Zoe is very competitive goes far too fast and there are many occasions when there is no contact between Zoe and the pony at all so it was inevitable that on at least one occasion they were going to go in different directions but she was on her feet in an instance and back on and going just as fast. Six of the children passed their next pony club tests and they all had their Acheivement badge. Friday we had another client showjumping day which was very busy. We had quite a lot of young children turn up having a go at the small classes on a lead rein. Friday was a late night out so saturday was a bit of a long day, Its not the hangovers I don’t really get those but I do get tired the next day now, so saturday nights show jumping was a bit of a struggle by 9pm.  Along with lessons all day there was also Mini pony Club on Saturday for 4 to 6yr olds and they all passed their grooming badge. Amelia jumped Fred and Destiny at Sunnybank on Sunday, Fred had a fence down in the 2′9 and Destiny was 1st in the 3ft. Monday we were short of staff so I worked on the yard most of the day with Paris and Jen and last night we went to see thriller in the Bristol Hippodrome.  Students came back today so it was nice for me to ride in the lesson this morning, teach theory catch up on a bit of paperwork and I only had one lesson to teach tonight.
