Spring Term 2008

With Christmas Holidays officially over, Our Spring term (and post christmas diet) starts today. Unfortunately I’ve been so ill with this fluey cold thing that everyone has, I haven’t achieved a lot today. All the horses come in now until the end of april in order to rest the fields, the ponies stay out on the yard and in the woods. Which means a lot more work. We have two new students starting this week. Elin part time Stage 2 on Friday and Rhiannon full time NVQ and Stage 1. Sophie unfortunately won’t be back for a while after her fall. Jess Amelia Leigh Chloe and Freya all have BHS exams coming up this spring.

There will be the usual Pony Club Quiz in February and Horse Care Competition in April. We did very well last year reaching the National finals in Warwick with our quiz team and we also had a Team at the National finals for the Horse Care. It would be good if some of our riding school members could take their Pony Club C test this spring which I know they have been working hard for with Nadine. Hopefully the Team Jumping will go ahead in April and there are plenty of competitions lined up for practice.

The nights are getting lighter and hopefully it wont be long before the weather gets warmer. Lets hope its a Happy and successful 2008 for everyone.

Don’t forget to let us know all your ideas and comments on the forum

The board Index shows you the titles of the rooms you can visit, how many topics there are and how many replies, it also shows you the date and name of the last person to write in that room, click on the title of the room you wish to visit and you will have a list of titles under that room, you can click on anyone of those and read the comments, if you then click on post reply you can add your comment to the ones there or you can click on new topic and start one of your own.

New Year 2008

The new year started with another days hunting on New years day, I took Muppet again who was much better behaved than I thought he would be second time out, Amelia took Fred and Jodie took Thor, It was Jodie’s first time out hunting and I think she enjoyed it. We didn’t stay out long as the hunt moved too fast. Glamorgan Hunt met in Cowbridge at 11am, we trotted through the high street and on towards Llandow. Over 60 people were mounted and as with boxing day a lot of people are hunting who do not hunt regularly. I have to say I was not impressed, No consideration was given to the fact that some of these horse were not fit enough to move at the rate that the hunt set. We did not stop for an hour and I will be reluctant to keep going if this is the sort of hunting that we are going to see these days. I left after an hour an my horse has been stiff and tired for 2 days and at a cost of £40  it really isn’t worth having your horse killed off for an hours reckless cantering through heavy going. Hunting used to be sociable and enjoyable.
